  1. I believe my mother exemplifies the spirit of Jesus' teachings because she is compassionate, and sympathetic to others. She always looks to see who she can help, and she always puts her family and others in front of herself. My mother pushes to make me a better student, son, brother and person. She truly exemplifies the spirit beacause of personal sacrifices, she goes above and beyond for my family and me.

  2. The person in my life who exemplifies Jesus' teachings best would be my father. My father has served many in his life including the Boys and Girls Clubs by voulunteering as a coach for different sports, which I have also taken up myself. I have watched as my dad showed compassion as well as encouragement among the young athletes to make sure that they have fun. Jesus was similar to this in that he always interacted with the people around him and showed them hospitality. Jesus was also a servant leader by serving others rather than asking to be served, which my father has thus done for the Boys and Girls Clubs, helping me to follow by his example. My father was not forced into this by anyone and as he coached others as well as myself as I grew up, he continued to coach long after I outgrew these activities and still does so today without being obligated to volunteer. Instead he wanted to give something back to the community. Overall, I have been able to witness how to be a kinder, more patient and more open person and I now realize what sacrifices we must make in life, whether we want to or not and and how they will positively affect society. - John Cooper

  3. The person in my family that most exemplifies the teachings of Christ would most likely be my father. Throughout my family my father has been known to be the person that all can admire and look up to because he leads and guides the family in a positive direction and everytyhing he does is for the benefit of others and not himself. He puts a great amount of effort into keeping the family up to par and tries to distribute his wealth equally. He epitomizes the characteristics of a servant leader because he is loved by all and would not tell someone to do what he himself would not do. He is a family man in every sense of the word and is dedicated not only to the people he sees everyday, but also those who are three thousand miles away in Nigeria. He truly exemplifies Jesus' teaching because he does not follow the pack, but diverts. He thinks of everyone, everyday, all the time and is the leader of our family although his birth told him he was the fifth in line to lead.

  4. A person in my life the exemplifies the spirit of Jesus' teachings is my father. Because he has made a comittment to free us(city of Boston) from crime as a police officer. Just as Jesus' mission was to free us from sin. My father risks his life everday in an effort to rid society from crime, and establish peace and justice.

  5. My mother exemplifies the spirit of Jesus' teachings in many different ways. She has had a commitment of teaching theology at St. Joseph's School in Needham for over 25 years. She has excelled in learning from Jesus' teachings, and she consistently passes it on to her students and to her family as well. My mother has guided me to become a better Catholic, whether it would be attending church with her every Sunday, or performing community service opportunities in the area. My mother has made significant sacrifices in her life for the benfit of her children. She is always putting her family first because of her endless love. For this, I show great gratitude.

  6. Besides my mother and father, a person who exemplifies the spirit of Jesus’ teachings is Brother Oxx. I decided on this individual because he shows dedication, and a willingness to help others just as Jesus taught us. He is dedicated because when he became a Brother he had the will to make a strong covenant with God and for that he is remarked upon with determination and courage. Jesus taught us to be dedicated to our faith, and Brother illustrates this exceedingly. If you ever need help with anything, Brother is always there to help you. Personally, I know he is always at my soccer games working the scoreboard for our team, and when you are helping out the soccer team it means something. Jesus taught us to help our neighbor, and Brother Oxx shows this perfectly when he helps around the CM community.

  7. A person in my life who exemplifies the teachings of Jesus is my mother. She has been a nurse at Boston Medical for nearly 30 years, helping doctors, and sitting on on very dangerous surgeries. The work is extremely demanding, but she eddures by constantly putting others before herself. Her whole career is based upon attending to the needs of others, and at home she is no different. She cooks, cleans, and selflessly takes care of the whole family, never putting herself above us. Just as Jesus acted solely on compassion and love, so too does my mother withing every aspect of her life.

  8. The person in my life who exemplifies the spirit of Jesus’ teachings is my mother. She loves the family unconditionally. She is the one who reaches out to help family and friends. She is compassionate, patient and loving. My mother lovingly cares for my grandmother who was recently diagnosed with dementia. My mother takes turns with my aunt and uncle to give her medication, make meals, clean the house and get her to bed at night so she can stay as long as possible in her own home. She definitely puts the needs of her family before her own because she believes that we should love one another as God loves us. My mother was my first teacher. It was from her that I learned how to be a good Catholic and to participate in the Christian community.

  9. One person who exemplifies the teaching of Jesus is Br. Cavet because of his dedication to the CM community. He'll put his heart and soul into any lesson he's teaching in class and will strive to make sure that you understand and can comprehend. Brother works selflessly to make sure that his students get the grades they deserve through effort and determination. He also takes time out of his schedule to coach the speech and debate team every day after school. Brother's been around for a long time at CM so he knows how to make each and every one of us feel welcome. He shows this through his classes and coaching. He exemplifies the teachings of Jesus by leading by example and putting others before himself.

  10. I cannot identify just one person in my life that exemplifies Jesus' teachings. I wpuld have to say both my father and mother are just like Jesus. My parents are not super heros, just a crane mechanic and a book keeper. My mother has taught me so much about life and religion. She would always drag all three of my brothers and I to mass. We would be fighting and trying to argue with her thinking it would get us out of going, it didn't. She stuck by her descison. My father is a very different example of Jesus to me. I was going through a time during the ast three years where I was and sometimes still am, racist. I did not like anyone but "white Irish", it sounds stupid now that I am actually seeing it. My father brought me to work and I met numorous African-American and Hispanic workers, not the image I had for minorities at the time. Before this I never thought of him as a "good Christian" Of course now I understand that both my mother and father are good Christians

  11. I have the opportunity to see Jesus' teachings reborn within my grandmother. Ever since I have been a toddler, she has been teaching me the morals of a good child. One quality she seems to have obtained is the ability to influence, almost to the point of feeling guilty about something, yet it gets the job done. As I have matured, she has shared stories (almost like the parables that Jesus used) of my great-grandfather and my great-grandmother and how they "got by" with only religion. I feel she exemplifies the Spirit of Jesus because of her unconditional love for me and my family, and how she puts her heart and soul into everything she believes in. Her life has been through turmoil, yet she puts her focus on the present, never dwelling on the past. The fact that my grandmother makes time to visit, helps us out, or just tries to give me that extra boost from a story, creates a symbolic personality much like that of Jesus.

  12. One person whom I feel exemplifies the spirit of Jesus' teachings is my next door neighbor Tom. He was my boss this past summer and is a very Catholic individual. He always pushed me to work hard throughout the summer and was there to help me with all the projects. I can go to him for any advice and know that he will not laugh or make me feel uncomfortable. Tom is the leader who looks for the good in others and never has any doubt. He trusts others as he would like to be trusted and leads through example. I know that he would not ask me to something that I could not ask him to do in return. He goes to church weekly and practices the word of the Lord on a daily basis.

  13. I believe that my neighbor Billy McCarthy follows the teachings of Jesus be cause he was a leader and also a servant. Billy was a Boston Fire Fighter on Rescue 2, which means that while the house is still burning he is the first person in to save anyone still inside. Billy unfortunately died last January from kidney, lung, brain, and a tumor on his vocal cord, Billy was only 50. However, he demonstrated the same principles that Jesus displayed when he was on earth. Billy while dying couldn't gain enough strength to move from the living room to the kitchen but every Sunday he would walk to church to pray. This truly shows how he fits into Jesus' teachings.

  14. My mother is the prime example in my life of what I should strive to follow as an example of Jesus' teachings. Even as child I would notice here desire towards always setting an example for me by doing the right thing in situations where it was not always the easiest action. Leading by example she has conveyed to me a message of faith through helping others. Jesus taught us to love our neighbor and when I look at my mother I amazed at how she is able to act kindly towards everyone around her. My mother exemplifies the spirit of Jesus' teachings through her actions towards the ones she may not like but still finds qualities to love about them. As some relish in their wealth she looks towards the less fortunate and helps them through her job. I always feel as if I can look at my mother and her actions to help guide me through my own decisions as a grow as both a student and an individual.

  16. My father, Warren Reeb, would have to be the most outstanding person who exemplifies the spirit of Jesus' teachings. Growing up he always had to support himself, clothing, food, all the day-to-day necessities. He even put himself through college working two jobs. As I have known him my whole life, I have noticed how selfless he can be. My father will work seven days out of the week just so the family can be happy, he doesn't care to work for us. He sets aside his personal feelings and truly shows how he is a provider and an honest role model. The experiences and hard work he dealt with throughout his life has made the person he has become today. And it shows each and every day.

  17. Someone I believe exemplifies Jesus' teachings would be my grandmother, Julia Daly. Ever since I was young she has always been doing work that she would have others do also. When she does a job for someone she never asks for anything in return for her goodness. She is always caring to those around her and she always knows what is going on. For the past few years she has attended a mass every week unless she had a conflict or family issue. She follows and respects all of the holidays on the Catholic calendar and follows the fasting schedules. She has always been there for me growing up and I hope that she always will be.

  18. My old pastor, Father Kelly, is one that i thought exemplafied a true follower of Jesus' teachings. In my old elementry school, Father Kelly was a person that showed the students what Jesus was about. He taught us that Jesus is someone that is very forgiving. Father Kelly showed through his actions how Jesus was forgiving. One day a kid was caught red handed stealing from our schools bake sale. He happened to be a close friend of mine so he told me all about it. My friend had said to me that Father Kelly had caught him with stolen goods from the school bake sale. He said to my friend that if he were to give him the goods that my friend had stolen, then he would recieve forgiveness and be let go. My friend immediately returned the goods and was very grateful of father Kelly's actions. Thisis a way that someone shows me Jesus' teaches through thier own actions.

  19. The person who exemplififes Jesus' teachings in my life is my mother. My mother raised my sister and I by herself for the most part, and she always took care of our needs or the needs of others before her own. She has set and excellent example of how a person should act when they grow up, she has been a great role model for me.
